The Translational Brain Tumor Center and the Neurology and Neurosurgery Service at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine are pleased to announce a call for applications for a Comparative Neuro-Oncology Clinical Trial Internship. The goal of this program is to provide one year of advanced training in clinical research and clinical trials for post-DVM fellows with a strong interest in comparative brain tumor research and clinician-scientist career development.

Program Overview
This is a one-year, full-time post-DVM research position for FY 2026–2027. The internship start date is July 1, 2026. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents (green card holders). Preference will be given to internship-trained DVM graduates who are interested in pursuing research careers in comparative neuro-oncology, followed by advanced clinical training. This program is designed to serve as a training platform for future clinician-scientists pursuing advanced academic careers in research and/or clinical medicine.
Training Experience
To meet the program’s primary objective of advanced training in Neurology and Neurosurgery clinical research and clinical trials, the intern will be fully immersed in clinical research activities. The intern is expected to be present at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, Monday through Friday during scheduled weeks, and available to assist with ongoing clinical trial needs.
Interns are strongly encouraged to participate in daily didactic and case-based rounds with the Neurology and Neurosurgery clinical service, including dedicated neuropathology sessions. Fellows will also be encouraged to present their work at the quarterly Neurology/Neurosurgery Research Symposium.
Selection & Support
Selection will be based on a competitive application process, with emphasis on academic qualifications and long-term career goals. The fellowship includes a yearly stipend and an allowance for trainee-related expenses, including insurance and fees, in accordance with NIH guidelines.
